I want to be a Spanish language tutor. I am quite proficient in basic formal Castilian Spanish and have knowledge of the numerous dialects from South and Central America as well. I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Spanish and International Studies from Houghton College. I actually lived in Spain for a while and studied language at the School of Translation and Interpretation division in the University of Granada. I have worked as a government translator. Having tutored in both American and Spain, I am qualified to teach ESL/ESOL. My life abroad has expanded my understanding and relations to foreign cultures better than a teacher or tutor who never lived outside of America. I appreciate the different styles of learning students can have in a distant country. This has helped me to develop more specialized tutoring techniques for each individual. My study of the different Spanish dialects help demonstrate changes in the language from one country to another. In my spare time, I enjoy baseball, music, and camping.
